Motorhome Route: The cherry blossoms of the Jerte Valley

In March and April, the Jerte Valley in Spain transforms into a sea of white blossom. More than a million cherry trees bloom during this period, a phenomenon that is celebrated annually with the Fiesta del Cerezo en Flor. This route takes you through the valley, past villages, viewpoints and a nature reserve where you can hike or take a dip.

  1. Plasencia – A great starting point just outside the valley. Stroll through the historic city centre, visit the cathedrals and taste the local tapas.

  3. Jerte – The heart of the valley and the centre of the blossom festivities. From here, several hiking trails start, leading along the river and through the orchards.
  4. Tornavacas – A village on the northern side of the valley with a panoramic view. The Puerto de Tornavacas is one of the best spots to see the cherry blossom fields from above.
  5. Garganta de los Infiernos – This nature reserve is known for its natural pools and waterfalls. A beautiful place for a hike or a refreshing dip when it's warm.
  6. Hervás – This village is located just outside the valley and has a well-preserved Jewish quarter and charming streets full of artisan shops.
